Believer in Rapid Recovery

I have known for years that I wanted a breast augmentation.  I am thirty-two years old.  After seven years of marriage and two beautiful children, I finally learned the valuable lesson that I matter.  Making myself a priority does not mean sacrificing my family’s needs.  Rather, spending time making myself look and feel better means I am better able to care for others.

It was early 2010, and the breast augmentation that had always been in the back of my mind came to the forefront of my thoughts. However, I am a young stay-at-home mother of very active one and three year-old children and was very concerned about how the recovery process might hinder my ability to care for them.  Moreover, would my surgical results be negatively impacted as a result of my needing to lift kids into car seats, give baths, chase after them, etc.?  I should also mention that I had just begun to feel good about my physical shape, following the birth of my second child.  Would all my physical progress be halted while I waited for muscle soreness to dissipate, bruising to fade and swelling to lessen?

I heard about Dr. VanNatta’s Rapid Recovery Breast Augmentation from a friend and former patient, and I became intrigued enough to call for a consultation.  Upon making the appointment, Dr. VanNatta’s staff encouraged me to watch his pre-consultation video, which describes in great detail about the specific steps to his Rapid Recovery.  My consultation was in mid-January.  After meeting with Dr. VanNatta, himself, as well as several members of his staff, my concerns lessened.  However, I still wondered whether Dr. VanNatta’s Rapid Recovery could withstand the test of toddlers.

My surgery was on a Friday in early February.  Following surgery, I walked out of the office, got into the car and rode with my husband to collect our kids from a friend’s house.  Kids on board, we went out to lunch.  (Note: my surgery was late enough in the morning that Dr. VanNatta recommended lunch BEFORE napping, which is opposite the normal order.)  We returned home a short while later, and I took my prescribed two-hour nap and first 800mg Ibuprofen.  Following my nap, I got up, took a shower, got myself dressed and even did my hair and make-up.  That was a particularly snowy winter night, but we got the kids in the car and went out to eat.  I opened my own car door, took both of the kids out of their car seats and settled my one year-old into his highchair.  Upon our return home, I helped get the kids back into the house, bathed them and even put the little one to bed!

Saturday morning, I woke up, took a shower and dressed myself, and then we headed out for normal Saturday morning errands, which included getting kids in-and-out of the car several times.  We had lunch out and then visited a friend.  I napped while my kids took their afternoon naps, and then we were out on the town again.  After helping with baths and bed, I proceeded to prepare for the next day’s Super Bowl party, which included setting the table, preparing food and making sure our home was in “party shape.”

Sunday was the day of the big game, and there was still so much to do.  Before tackling the daily chores, I enjoyed breakfast out with my family.  We returned home, and I began to do the first of six loads of laundry, ironed some clothes and did all the dishes from the weekend.  I also tidied up the house and got the kids ready for the babysitter (no kids allowed at the Super Bowl).  The party was a success, including friendly hugs, holding the lone baby and throwing my hands in the air to cheer on our Colts!  That night, I drove to the babysitter’s, picked-up my kids and returned home to bathe, dress and put them to bed without assistance (my husband was still watching the game).

By Monday morning, I was fully on my own with the kids.  I took my daughter to preschool and then went on countless errands with my son.  Surgery quickly became a distant memory, and the mundane tasks of caring for my young family were just that—mundane.  I was just as physically capable as I had been before having surgery three days prior.  It is true that the Rapid Recovery works, if you follow the recipe.  Oh, and I am training for the Mini.  Did I mention that?  I was back in the gym not even a week following surgery and am back on track with my training.  While there was some anticipated swelling, it did not hinder my workouts.  I did bruise in one dime-sized area, but there was no pain associated.

I am a believer in Dr. VanNatta’s Rapid Recovery Breast Augmentation.  I have no regrets and look forward to continued satisfaction from his care and “improvements” to my self-image.
