Breast Augmentation by Dr. Christine L. KelleyBreast enlargement is a very common cosmetic procedure women pursue to improve self-confidence, attractiveness, and clothing fit. Many prospective patients, however, are concerned that the procedure involves too much pain and too many physical restrictions during the recovery process. Are you worried these problems will interfere with your active lifestyle? With my Active Life Augmentation approach, you can enjoy the benefits of breast enlargement without the pain and hassles often associated with this procedure.
Breast augmentation recovery can be comfortable and quick.
- The main causes of post-procedure pain are reduced by first selecting implant sizes appropriate for your tissue characteristics. Secondly, gentle surgical technique further decreases tissue trauma and pain.
- Following surgery, a series of warm showers and stretching exercises help to relax the chest muscles. Ibuprofen is used to reduce swelling and discomfort. Occasionally, some patients will be more comfortable with light doses of a mild narcotic for a day or two. As with exercise injuries, cold packs are often helpful.
Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting are discouraged for several weeks to avoid complications such as bleeding; most normal daily activities are allowed and actually encouraged. You will be able to shampoo your hair, prepare meals, shop, and participate in evening activities immediately. You can maintain fitness activities, as long as you reduce your heart rate target to approximately 20% of resting for the first two weeks. Only very strenuous lifting is restricted, usually for two more weeks. If your activity will result in bouncing of your newly enlarged breasts, I recommend a supportive sports bra. Otherwise, no special garments are required. | Breast Augmentation
