Have you ever wondered what you might look like if you had a facelift? Or what you could look like if you had a better looking nose? As many of our patients are aware, we have available in our office the ability to image, or change, your picture to show you what you can look like after a particular surgery. Although we don't image every patient for every kind of surgery, certain kinds of surgeries can be successfully demonstrated on our computer using specialized software.

This is how if works. When you make a consultation appointment to speak to one of our doctors about the saggy skin around your eyes, or the jowls that have been bothering you, we may take photos of you before you even speak to the doctor. While you are talking to the doctor, our medical photographer loads those photos into her computer and, using the specialized software, and erases those bags and sags that make you look so tired. After you are finished talking to the doctor, you are brought into the photo room where you and the doctor look at the before and "after" pictures of you and discuss the specific changes. The changes can be dramatic! It's like a window into the future. And it is an invaluable communication tool between surgeon and patient. Patients who have had imaging have said that it was extremely helpful in making their decision to actually have the surgery they have been wanting. The imaging can calm your fears of an unnatural look post surgery.

As with most things in life, the photographer can't guarantee she knows every detail and nuance of how you may look post surgery, but the doctors and the photographer feel confident that we are showing our patients a very honest and accurate depiction of where we expect to be after all the healing is done. We have been imaging patients' photos for many years and feel very confident with this technology and with our surgeons' abilities.

Although we can image photos of many different kinds of surgery, there are some surgeries that we don't image. Facial surgeries are the most successfully represented surgeries for the imaging software. Although our software has amazing capabilities, there are certain things we feel are not well represented on a computer.
